Huang Lian Jie Du Wan by Plum Flower drains fire, expels toxic heat, clears damp-heat and cools the blood.

Ingredients (Pin Yin): Huang lian, Zhi zi, Huang qin, Huang bai

Ingredients: Coptis chinensis rhizome, Gardenia jasminoides fruit, Scutellaria baicalensis root, Phellodendron chinense bark. Other Ingredients: Talcum, Activated carbon, Botanical wax.

TCM Functions: Drains Fire, Clears Damp-Heat, Cools the Blood

Standard Dosage: 8 pills, 3 x per day

Clinical Dosage: Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. In acute cases, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills every 2-4 hours, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the formula takes effect. May be used short-term for few days to a few weeks. Once acute heat symptoms are resolved, this formula should be discontinued and replaced with a milder formula. This is a very cold and bitter formula and can easily damage the Spleen and Stomach Qi.

Contraindications (all): Use with caution in Spleen deficient patients with a tendency to loose stools, diarrhea, poor appetite or chronic digestive weakness. Contraindicated for very weak or deficient patients.
