Da Bu Yin Wan by Lanzhou Foguang Foci is used for deficiency yin fire conditions, especially causing menopausal hot flashing or spermatorrhea. The formula is also useful in late stage fevers as found in AIDS or tuberculosis. Chinemys (Gui Ban), or turtle bone from the belly or plastron, astringes jing and yin, stopping night sweats. These turtles are bred for medicines, and not taken from the wild.
Western Symptomatology: Menopausal disorder; Hyperthyroidism; Tuberculosis (late stage fever); Diabetes; AIDS (late stage fever).
Contraindications: Rehmannia, a relatively greasy herb, can aggravate phlegm and food stasis, causing bloating, nausea, or loose stools. Also, Phellodendron (huang bai) should not be used in cases of poor digestion or loose stools. Discontinue during colds and flu.
Suggested Use: 8 pills 3 times daily.
